Karen Muska
Milpitas Unified School District
Karen Muska is an Educational Technology Specialist for the Milpitas Unified School District. She has been in the field of education for many years, first teaching in the Chicago Public Schools, and then as an instructional technologist for the Georgia Dept. of Education before coming to California in 2006. In her current role, she provides support and professional development for many of the technology-based curricular, data and assessment, and productivity programs used in the district.
Last year, the district started Colleague to Colleague (C2C), a professional learning model in which we tap into the wealth of knowledge and expertise within the district community. This initiative began with an in-person symposium taking place over a single afternoon. This spring, with the rapid move to distance learning and the increased need for training and support, Karen worked with district leaders to develop a much more extensive Virtual C2C program. Using the Sched platform has helped to make this PD and support program successful and much easier to manage. After a pilot Spring Virtual C2C, we grew our Summer Virtual C2C to 36 sessions, 29 presenters, and over 750 session registrations.
